Over 20 years ago I set out to create a community driven online pedigree tool. I envisioned a pedigree database that could be maintained by the public, where users could build pedigrees based on generations of data entered by other users. A sharable system where all the pedigrees were linked to one another, just like a typical pet registry. I had good intentions, but a good friend of mine warned me against building a community pedigree system and ensured me chaos would follow. Well ... I didn't listen. Since then, I've collected hundreds of thousands of pedigrees and I thought my system has worked pretty well for a time. However, it's not flawless, over the years I discovered several issues that needed to be addressed, but it's difficult to patch a 20 year old system. I'm launching this website in attempt to "perfect" my own pedigree software before trying to update my legacy systems.
The Perfect Pedigree name is a play on my attempt to fix issues and perfect my own pedigree system, but it also is the name of another classic website, "perfectpedigrees.com", that disappeared from the internet around 2016. My goal isn't to restore the internet to the way it was 20 years ago, but I wouldn't mind rolling it back before social media took over.
This website will allow you to create free online pedigrees, that you can share with friends, customers or on other websites. Your pedigrees will be semi-private, as in you can share the link to your pedigree, but they won't be searchable by the public at this time. In an effort to protect the `Perfect Pedigree` name and ensure our pedigrees are accurate, only verified pedigrees will be searchable. When you upload a digital copy of your pedigree certificate, we'll verify your pedigree and move it to our registry. Verified pedigrees will then be used to autocomplete pedigrees for all members. Even if the pedigree you are trying to complete is auto completed by an existing pedigrees in the database, you will still be able to override any names and create the pedigree just the way that you like.
